Maury Chaykin and his impressive list of film
credits includes: The Art of War, What’s Cooking, Mystery, Alaska, Entrapment,
Jerry and Tom, The Postman, A Life Less Ordinary, The Sweet Hereafter, Love and
Death on Long Island, Devil in a Blue Dress, and Unstrung Heroes. Chaykin also
appeared in Hero with Dustin Hoffman, Atom Egoyan’s The Adjuster, and turned
in a scene-stealing role as the suicidal army officer in Kevin Costner’s
Dances With Wolves. Films soon to be released are: Owning Mahoney co-starring
with Phillip Seymore Hoffman; Bartleby and Plan B co-starring with Diane Keaton.
Chaykin also co-stars with Ms. Keaton in Crossed Over, a CBS television movie to
air this Spring.
Chaykin took on the memorable role of detective Nero Wolfe in Golden Spiders:
Nero Wolfe, the original A&E production that led to the weekly A&E
television series. Chaykin co-stars with Timothy Hutton.
Born in Brooklyn, Chaykin has worked in Canada since 1974 and has done exemplary
work there, winning a Nellie Award in 1986 and a Genie Award in 1995 for Best
Actor in a Leading Role for Whale Music. Chaykin also starred in the 1985
television movie Canada's Sweetheart: The Saga of Hal C. Banks, and won a 1998
Gemini Award for Best Actor in a Guest Lead for his performance in La Femme
Nikita. His other television credits include Due South and The Tracey Ullman
Show.
Chaykin’s stage work includes A Man’s
Man, Leave It to Beaver Is Dead, Gimme Shelter, Fat Fell Down, Diary of a
Scoundrel and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
